In recent years, more and more Gorjeni people have started to cultivate land, but above all they practice BIO agriculture. Everything started from the pandemic, when people started gardening in particular and if they still produce their own vegetables they want them to be BIO. Manure, the best natural fertilizer, is in great demand in Gorj.

Animal breeders or small farmers in the county who until a few years ago did not know how to get rid of manure, now have nothing to sell.

“I want to tell you that manure is in great demand. A few years ago I was begging one and another to take it for free, and now I ended up with nothing to sell. He has to sit for a year or two before he can be used, but I have people coming to pick him up and keep him in their household. I saw that there are ads on the Internet that they sell manure and I called to see what the price is, but no one has it anymore. It is sought because people who plant gardens for their own consumption have understood that this garbage is the best fertilizer and if you still eat a vegetable from yourself, at least it should be something natural. I also sold the garbage cart for 300 lei”, says a local from Stănești.

In the Turburea commune there is a manure deposit made with European funds, and the local authorities have received offers from Germany to sell the natural fertilizer.

“We made the manure deposit through the World Bank. I want to tell you that we have been collecting garbage for about two years here at the depot and we have about 500 tons. For now, he doesn’t want me to sell it because I would like to use it in the commune if I plant something on the communal plot. We have many offers to give it and even if we need money, it is better to keep it and use it in the commune. Someone came to the town hall to buy it, put it in bags and send it to Germany, and I refused,” said Ion Bârca.
