Russia attacks NATO weapons route to Ukraine. The route goes through Romania-Chisinau-Odesa. The route allows the delivery of military supplies from Western European countries to Odesa, the city being subject to constant attacks in March.

In turn, Ukraine has its sights set on Russia’s new railway route built in the occupied territories.

The head of Defense Intelligence believes that the new railway being built by the Russians on Ukrainian territory and connecting it to mainland Russia could be a problem.

“In fact, Russia is building a railway to connect its own territory with our temporarily occupied southern territories for more than a year. This process is almost complete and could be a serious problem for us,” said Kirilo Budanov, head of the Defense Intelligence Service of Ukraine (DIU), according to European Pravda.

“But I hope we will somehow manage the land section of the railway. Everyone has experience in this, and this is much easier than the problem of the bridge in Crimea,” said Budanov, referring to sabotage.

Britain’s Defense Intelligence Service has reported that the Russians have repaired the railway in the Donetsk region and this is an important step in securing logistics.

NATO’s logistics route targeted by Russia

The pro-Kremlin channel Telegram/Two Majors has already reported on Russia’s plan to destroy the rail and road bridges through which NATO oil and weapons reach Ukraine, transiting Romania.

“Part of the consumption of oil products to Ukraine is satisfied by importing from Poland and Romania both the fuel itself and the additives that improve the quality of the produced fuel, in violation of all imaginable standards,” wrote the pro-Kremlin channel Telegram/Two Majors.

Also, NATO logistics will be expanded by including in “Military Schengen” the Moldovan and Ukrainian railways converted to the European gauge, writes Telegram/Two Majors.

In Romania, as part of the project, the construction of the Iași-Ungheni bridge towards Moldova has begun. The route will eventually allow the delivery of military supplies from Western European countries to Chisinau and Odesa.

In this direction, the construction and modernization of nine bridges on the border with Moldova over the Prut River is also expected, Telegram/Rybar also noted.

Since March 22, 2024, several series of attacks have been carried out on power plants in Ukraine, especially in the Odesa region, which affected electric rail transport.

“Besides undermining the moral and psychological state of the population, the strikes are aimed at reducing the operation of electric railway locomotives. Replacing transformers is not enough. In a number of regions, diesel locomotives are already installed where trains previously ran using electricity,” Telegram/Rybar writes.

Russian military experts have warned since 2023, repeatedly, that the inclusion of the railway and road infrastructure of Ukraine, Poland, Romania and Moldova in the framework of the logistics project of NATO implies the advance to the borders of Russia and must be stopped by any means, sabotage or direct strikes .

The Kremlin has already warned that the routes through which weapons are sent to Ukraine in the war “against Russia” are becoming legitimate targets, but the first phase of destroying these routes is only now beginning
