A strong fire, with significant releases of smoke, engulfed, on Friday afternoon, a disused hall located in the municipality of Gheorgheni, Harghita county. The authorities sent a RO-Alert message because of the thick smoke. The military firefighters, as well as volunteers from four localities in the area, were sent to the scene of the intervention.

The fire spread over an area of ​​one thousand square meters, the flames destroying the roof of a disused hall, but also approximately 10 square meters of the roof of a nearby warehouse, 20 square meters of the roof of a transformer station.

“Due to the large releases of smoke, for the protection of the population in the vicinity of the demonstration area, a warning message was sent through the RO-Alert system”, informs ISU Harghita.

Crews from the Gheorgheni Fire Department are acting at the scene of the fire, with 3 fire trucks and a SMURD ambulance, and the volunteer services for emergency situations from Lăzarea, Ditrău, Joseni and Remetea were sent to support them.

At the time of transmission of this news, the fire is localized and no longer presents a danger of propagation.
