Gabriela Firea, former mayor of the Capital, confesses that a candidacy for the European Parliament was not her “life’s project”, emphasizing, however, that she does not consider this candidacy to be “a demotion”.
“It wasn’t my vision of life, it wasn’t my life’s project, but I don’t consider it a demotion,” said Gabriela Firea, on Wednesday evening, on Antena 3, talking about her candidacy for the European Parliament elections.
Asked if she thinks she was offered a candidacy for a position in Brussels in order to no longer be involved in local politics, Firea replied: “I hope not.”
“They sent me there because all my colleagues know that I am a hardworking person, a dedicated person, that after the accommodation period I will be a useful member of our team and will come with good ideas”, she added, according to News.ro .
She said that she will be concerned “especially with attracting European funds for Bucharest”, but also with issues such as the family or equal opportunities.
Firea admitted that it will not be “very easy” for him to work in Brussels, considering that his family will remain in Bucharest, but he says that he relies on the support of those close to him.
Gabriela Firea also stated that the moment she is going through now, after she was not nominated as a candidate for another mandate at the Capital City Hall, represents a “restart”. She admits that she has been preparing, in the last three and a half years, to run for the local elections, but claims that, although she did not receive PSD’s support to run, she will remain in politics, in PSD.
