“We have almost four hours of video footage from inside all the rooms of Putin’s palace. From inside the most secret and well-guarded building in the country. Bedrooms, offices, gyms, cryosaunas and a chapel. You can see the true extent of the craziness of the Kremlin leader,” says Navalny’s investigative team.

In 2021, the oligarch Arkady Rotenberg claimed the mysterious palace, claiming that he is building an apartment complex: “In a year and a half or in two years I will invite you to see what beauty will be there,” the billionaire told journalists.

But the complex does not exist! It’s not on search engines, on websites, or in brochures and flyers. Despite Rotenberg’s promises, no one brought journalists to Gelendzhik, notes Navalny’s team.

“In a way, the oligarch did not deceive us, the construction is really finished. The marble floors are polished, the furniture is arranged, the decorations and finishes are ready,” Navalny.com writes.

Everything seems like a competition to place the maximum number of sculptures per square meter. From graceful muses to towering goddesses.

Navalny.com:

The palace was almost finished years ago, but numerous defects, leaking rooms and mold appeared. Long renovations followed.

“Let’s imagine how Vladimir Putin, as a democratically elected president, a civil servant, built himself a crazy palace for 100 billion rubles (no – about one billion euros),” say, ironically, those from the investigations.

Journalists pored over luxury furniture catalogs. Vladimir Putin’s four-poster bed alone cost 5.8 million rubles, which is about 59,000 euros.

Many parts are imported from Italy, but have been passed off as Serbia, to avoid international sanctions.

There is also the American equipment, “of course, our enemies, ideological opponents and a rotten, soulless place.”

Other prices:

  • Office sofas – 93,000 euros;
  • Meeting room table – 19,000 euros;
  • Chandelier – 500,000 euros;
  • TV table – 22,000 euros;
  • Chest of drawers – 26,400 euros.

250 employees, including a herpetologist

In the public resources, the journalists found how many people are employed to maintain the palace: more than 250. There are 27 who take care of the gardens and the forest. There is even a herpetologist, an expert on reptiles.

The investigation came a day before Vladimir Putin was sworn in as president for a new six-year term in the Kremlin.

Vladimir Putin secured his fifth term as Russian president in March at the end of an election criticized by the West, in which, according to official results announced by Moscow, he won almost 88% of the votes cast.
