“Allowing millions and millions of people, many of them very bad, to come through the southern border is not sustainable. They will destroy the country. We will carry out the largest deportation in history. We have no choice,” Trump said at a campaign rally in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

The former president once again accused his opponent, Democratic President Joe Biden, of applying an open borders policy in the last four years, which led to an “invasion” of migrants.

Trump made these statements a day after the publication of an interview in Time magazine in which he detailed that, if he wins the election in November, he intends to deploy the military to track down and detain undocumented migrants.

Also, Trump did not rule out the possibility of building new detention camps for migrants, although he did not indicate it as a priority, given that his plan is to quickly deport them.

The current president, accused of causing a “bloodbath on the border”

Trump, who won the election in 2016 after promising to build a wall on the border with Mexico, a plan he did not follow through on, has again put migration at the center of his campaign.

The Republican on Wednesday took advantage of a break in his criminal trial in New York to campaign in Wisconsin and Michigan, where he is virtually tied with Biden in the polls.

Donald Trump already visited these two states in April and on that occasion also insisted on the issue of migration, accusing the current president of causing a “bloodbath on the border”.

For its part, the Biden administration has reversed Trump’s policy of immediately rejecting migrants, launching humanitarian permit programs for citizens of several countries and limiting asylum applications at the border.

More than two million people were arrested last year when they tried to illegally cross the southern border of the United States, EFE reminds.
