Two Romanian husbands were arrested in Italy after the police saw the videos on the woman’s phone

Two Romanian husbands were arrested in Catania, Italy, accused of gang rape and bodily harm, their victim being a young woman from the Republic of Moldova. The 41-year-old man and his 37-year-old wife were detained after the police discovered in the woman’s phone videos of the sexual assaults to which the young Moldovan woman was subjected.

According to the Catania authorities, the young woman from the Republic of Moldova arrived in Sicily at the end of 2023. She was looking for a job when she met the two Romanians settled in the small town of Bronte near Catania, who offered her accommodation , in exchange for which the young woman had to take care of the household chores and the couple’s children, reports ANSA.

The first weeks in the house of the Romanian couple were peaceful, but their behavior suddenly changed and they began to beat the young Moldovan woman and sexually assault her, some of the incidents being filmed by the wife with her mobile phone.

The Moldovan managed, at one point, to alert a relative in the country, who notified the authorities in Italy by phone.

Thus, the police of Catania, coordinated by the prosecutor Sebastiano Ardita, began an investigation for suspicions of sequestration of persons and sexual assault. The operative team that went down to the Romanians’ house found the woman from Moldova with signs of violence, including a fractured collarbone, and she was taken to the hospital.

The police found in the Romanian woman’s phone three videos of the sexual assaults to which the young woman was subjected.

The two husbands were arrested for mistreatment, bodily harm and gang sexual violence. The man was jailed, while his wife was later placed under house arrest and required to wear an electronic bracelet.
