Russia announced on Tuesday that its air defense systems shot down six ATACMS (Army Tactical Missile Systems) missiles produced in the USA and launched by Ukraine in the last 24 hours, reports Reuters.

The US secretly sent long-range missiles to Ukraine as part of a $300 million military aid package approved by US President Joe Biden on March 12, a US official said last week. .

Whether or not to send ATACMS missiles with a range of up to 300 km has been a topic of debate within the Biden administration for months. Medium-range ATACMS missiles had already been delivered last September. The Russian Defense Ministry did not specify where the missiles were shot down.

“Ten Ukrainian aerial vehicles without a pilot on board, six ATACMS tactical missiles manufactured by the United States and two Hammer guided bombs manufactured by France were shot down by the air defense”, the authorities of the aggressor state transmitted.

Sergei Aksionov, the stooge imposed by the criminal Kremlin regime as the “governor” of Crimea, claims that ATACMS missiles were shot down over the peninsula, which was annexed by Russia in 2014. He posted a photo on Telegram showing what he described as unexploded submunitions of ATACMS missiles, without specifying how many missiles were shot down.
