08:53Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has ordered the delivery of more and faster weapons for Moscow’s military operation in Ukraine, the Russian Defense Ministry announced on Wednesday, Reuters reports.

“In order to maintain the necessary rhythm of the offensive … it is necessary to increase the volume and quality of weapons and military equipment provided to the troops, first of all weapons,” said the Minister of Defense, quoted by Shoigu, in a statement published on Telegram.

08:32 Ukraine launched drones over several Russian regions early Wednesday, Russian officials said, and unofficial Russian news agencies reported a fire at the Ryazan oil refinery after the attack, according to Reuters.

Pavel Malkov, the governor of Ryazan region, which shares a border with Moscow region in the northwest, said there were no injuries in the drone attacks in that region.

The Russian channel Baza, close to the security services, reported that the attack started a fire at the refinery in Ryazan.

The refinery, owned and operated by Rosneft, processes about 5.8% of Russia’s total refined crude oil. It has been a frequent target of Ukrainian airstrikes.

The governors of Kursk and Voronezh regions in southwestern Russia, which border Ukraine, also reported drone strikes on their territories, saying no damage or injuries were reported.

Russia rarely releases information about the full impact of Ukraine’s attacks on its territory and infrastructure.

Officials in Kiev say targeting Russia’s military, energy and transportation infrastructure undermines Moscow’s war effort.

08:28A Russian missile attack killed at least three people in Odesa, in southwestern Ukraine, the local authorities informed on Wednesday morning, AFP and Agerpres inform.

“The enemy attacked Odessa with ballistic missiles. As a result of the attack, three people were killed and three others were injured, said the mayor of Odesa, Ghennadi Truhanov, on the Telegram social network.

“All the necessary medical assistance is being provided to the wounded,” Oleg Kiper, the governor of the Odesa region, said on Telegram. “There is damage to the civil infrastructure,” he added, without providing any other information.

A rocket attack carried out by Russian forces in Odesa on Monday killed five people, according to local officials.

A vital Black Sea port for Ukrainian exports, the city of Odessa is regularly targeted by deadly missile and drone attacks.

Russia has been pounding Ukrainian cities relentlessly for months and advanced on the eastern front before the arrival of American weapons crucial to Kiev.
