A Russian missile attack, in broad daylight, on an educational institution in the Ukrainian port of Odessa on Monday killed four people and injured 28, local officials quoted by Reuters announced. The regional governor Oleh Kiper informed on Telegram that four of the injured are in serious condition and are receiving emergency treatment. He stated that two children and a pregnant woman are among the injured.

Images posted online show a historic building near the seafront on fire as smoke billows into the sky. The footage, which could not be immediately verified, also shows people receiving treatment on the street and lots of blood on the ground.

Ukrainian Navy spokesman Dmyitro Pletenciuk said the strike was carried out with an Iskander-M cluster warhead ballistic missile. These missiles are harder to intercept.

A member of parliament, among the wounded

Public broadcaster Suspilne said the roof of the building, described as a law academy, was nearly destroyed. She stated that the president of the academy, a former prominent member of the parliament, Serhii Kivalov, is among the wounded.

Odessa was a frequent target of Russian attacks with missiles and drones, especially the port infrastructure.
