visit to the liquor store of a Romanian company. The event was not publicly communicated by the institutions

--

The Minister of Justice, Alina Gorghiu, the head of the Supreme Court, Corina Corbu, as well as the director of the State Reserves, Georgian Pop, visited the liquor store of the Alexandrion company in Brazil, as the company shows in a post on social networks. The three heads of institutions can be seen in the images posted by the company. None of them publicly communicated this visit to an alcohol producer.

In the shop, you can see bottles of wine in the foreground, and bottles of spirits on the back shelves.

The deputy general secretary of the Ministry of Justice, Cătălin Oţel, and the Romanian ambassador to Brazil, Monica Ştirbu, also appear in the images.

“We recently had the pleasure of welcoming the Minister of Justice from Romania, Mrs. Alina Gorghiu, and the Ambassador to Brazil, Her Excellency, Mrs. Monica Mihaela Știrbu, at our Alexandrion Experience store in São Paulo. Mrs. Gorghiu emphasized the fact that she is proud to discover the extraordinary quality of Romanian wines in Brazil,” the company’s post states.

The founder and patron of Alexandrion Group is the Syrian citizen Nawaf Salameh. He now also has businesses in renewable energy. He studied medicine in Romania during the communist period and settled here. He has a PhD from the Charles I National Defense University, according to his Linkedin profile.

The exotic visit to Brazil of the heads of justice from Romania was not communicated by them until the information was revealed by the Brazilian institutions. Prosecutor General Alex Florenta also participated in the visit from Brazil, but he does not appear in the photos posted by the Alexandrion company.

A photo of the Minister of Justice, the Chief Prosecutor and the Head of the High Court of Cassation and Justice was published on April 8 by the Court of Justice of Sao Paolo. Alina Gorghiu, Alex Florența and Alina Corbu were in an official delegation in Brazil, according to the justice institution in São Paulo, but which was not officially announced by the Romanian institutions.

Alina Gorghiu, the Minister of Justice, stood out in recent months through long-term foreign visits, some of them to exotic destinations. From December until now, Gorghiu (PNL) has made visits to the US to the UN, Japan, Italy and Brazil. The visit to Brazil has not been officially announced by the ministry, but announcements by Brazilian officials indicate that the minister and her entourage have been to both the capital Brasilia and the state of Sao Paolo.

We remind you that President Klaus Iohannis also visited Brazil in April 2023, where he spent several days with his wife, Carmen Iohannis, without meetings on the official agenda. Besides a meeting with President Lula da Silva, he only had meetings with second-ranking officials – the vice mayor and vice governor of Rio de Janeiro.
