The purposes of Xi Jinping’s visit to France and Hungary have become known. The major investment that will benefit Budapest

On May 5, the Chinese president begins his five-day trip to EU countries. He plans to visit France, Serbia and Hungary. It is these countries that want to establish closer cooperation with Beijing.

First, Xi Jinping will go to Paris, where he will spend two days, reports Bloomberg. Emmanuel Macron will try to convince Xi to force Putin to stop the war and sit down at the negotiating table.

The French president also wants to attract Chinese investment in the automotive sector for the production of electric cars. It is known that a dinner will be held at the Elysee Palace, and the main drink will be taper, which is under anti-dumping investigation in China.

Xi and Macron will then travel to one of the villages in the Pyrenees Mountains where Macron’s grandmother once lived.

Xi will also meet EC President Ursula von der Leyen. China is confident that Macron’s stance will help EU leaders pursue a more pragmatic policy towards Beijing. Director of the Center for China Studies at Riga University, Berzina-Cherenkova, said that Xi only visits those EU countries that are trying to escape US tutelage.

Orban has consistently said that the time has come to turn his attention not only to the United States, but also to China. Hungary became the only country that did not want to vote on the next package of sanctions because it included companies from China.

Experts say Xi Jinping wants to rely on Hungary as a “strategic asset” in negotiations with the EU. During the visit to Budapest, Xi and Orban will announce the opening of a new car factory, Great Wall Motor Ltd., where about 9 thousand new jobs will be created.
