More and more Western leaders fear the escalation of Russia’s war from Ukraine to the West, and Moscow comes with all kinds of threats in various states. A British expert from the London Schools of Economics warns of Putin’s plans. The Russian president has only two explosive scenarios against NATO on the table, which would take the conflict in Ukraine to a continental level.

Vuk Vuksanovic, a political scientist and associate professor at London School of Economics IDEAS in Britain, warned that either option would come with “the risk of using nuclear weapons,” according to MSN.

As Russian troops prepare for a summer offensive that could begin imminently, experts have warned that other members of the alliance could be at risk if Ukraine is unable to prevent it.

China would send a “shock wave” to Putin: It would force him to leave Ukraine in a key move

Vuksanovic explained two possible scenarios that could lead to a Russia-NATO conflict: a NATO interaction in Ukraine or an outright invasion of a member state.

He told Daily Express US: “There are only two scenarios for the NATO-Russia conflict. Either the scenario where NATO intervenes on behalf of Ukraine, or the scenario where Russia invades a NATO member state.” However, Vuksanovic stressed that “both options are unlikely.”

This comes as Joe Biden warned of a Russian “direct attack” on NATO should Ukraine defeat. He said: “If Putin triumphs in Ukraine – the next move by Russian forces could very well be a direct attack on a NATO ally.”

“You all know very well that the invocation of Article 5… A declared attack on one is an attack on all. If Putin attacks a NATO ally as he is attacking Ukraine today, we would have no choice but to come to their aid.”

He made the shock announcement after signing the new $61bn (£48bn) aid bill for Ukraine, the first shipment of which is due to arrive soon, according to US officials.

It is expected to include air defense capabilities, artillery shells, armored vehicles and other weapons to support Ukrainian forces that have seen morale plummet as Putin has racked up victory after victory on the battlefield.

Panic spreads in Russia over US measures. China is blocking Putin, not sacrificing itself

Russian officials reacted angrily to news of the US $61 billion aid bill for Kiev, warning it would only increase the death toll in Ukraine.

According to reports by Russian state media agencies, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov blamed the “Kiev regime” for exacerbating the war and causing more deaths.

He said: “The decision will make the United States of America richer, further ruin Ukraine and lead to the death of even more Ukrainians at the hands of the Kiev regime.”
