Alcohol behind the wheel. How long is it removed from the body

--

While some drivers get behind the wheel regardless of whether they have consumed alcohol, others are cautious and hesitant to do so, even after a considerable period of time since their last drink. It is important to remember that the process of eliminating alcohol from the body varies from person to person and is influenced by different factors.

Alcoholemia is the amount of alcohol temporarily present in a person’s bloodstream. It is also known as “blood alcohol concentration”, “blood alcohol level”, “degree of alcohol intoxication” and can be determined by several tests.

When you can get behind the wheel after consuming alcohol

Additionally, alcohol can linger in certain areas of the body for longer periods of time.

Alcohol in the blood can be detected for 6-12 hours. In breath, it can be detected for up to 24 hours, while in urine it can be detected between 80 hours.

Alcohol in saliva can be detected for 48 hours, and in hair follicles it can be detected for up to three months.

A crucial aspect in determining the time it takes for the body to eliminate alcohol is body weight. How long it takes to clear alcohol from the body is also influenced by the type of drink consumed, the concentration of alcohol in it, how long it has been consumed, your diet and how much you rest after drinking alcohol.

According to doctors, people who drink alcohol on an empty stomach reach the maximum blood alcohol level in 20-30 minutes, because the metabolism is accelerated and the alcohol is absorbed into the blood more quickly.

How long alcohol is released from the body, depending on the drink consumed

Suppose a person weighing 70 kilograms consumes alcohol. In this situation, a liter of wine will be eliminated from the body between seven and nine hours.

A 500 ml beer will be eliminated in about two hours, 100 ml of liquor will be eliminated in about three hours, and 100 ml of beer will be eliminated in about four hours.

It is estimated that between 90% and 98% of the total alcohol ingested is metabolized and absorbed by the body. The unassimilated alcohol is later removed from the body through sweat, urine, vomit and feces, according to ziarulromanesc.de.
