Fahad, who has nearly half a million followers on TikTok, became famous for posting videos of herself dancing to Iraqi music. Recently, she revealed images of herself driving a car and posing in front of a mirror. Each video has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times.

In February last year, Fahad was sentenced to six months in prison for sharing videos that a court ruled contained “indecent speech that undermines public modesty and morality.”

In 2023, the Iraqi government launched a campaign to clamp down on social media content that goes against the country’s “morals and traditions.” The Ministry of the Interior has set up a commission to search for “offensive” videos on platforms such as TikTok and YouTube, and several influencers have been arrested.
