“Cloud seeding” has been talked about for a long time, and the technique is used in many countries that have major problems due to drought. There are voices saying that the strange weather in Dubai is related to the artificial rain created there to tame the weather.

Torrential rains have caused traffic to stop, flights to be canceled and schools to close. It was said that it rained in a few hours as much as for two years.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been hit by what the Government has described as the heaviest rainfall in 75 years. This caused traffic to stop, flights to be canceled and schools to close.

Bloomberg reported that the technology, called “cloud seeding,” led to heavy rains that caused catastrophic flooding across the arid nation.

One of the UAE’s leading newspapers, The National, dismissed claims that cloud spreading was responsible for the three-day rain in the UAE. However, he said he could have played a minor role.

Even though many places have inadequate drainage, the UAE has been conducting seeding operations since 2002 to address water security concerns.

The UK’s Standard writes that the UAE has been conducting seeding operations since 2002 to address water security concerns.

Ahmed Habib, a meteorologist, told Bloomberg that the Gulf State’s National Meteorological Center is seeding planes from Al Ain Airport to capitalize on convective cloud formations.

Several Romanians were trapped at the Dubai Airport when torrential rains fell on some states in the Persian Gulf, causing flooding in the entire region.

What is cloud seeding

Cloud seeding is a weather modification technique in which substances are dispersed into the air to encourage cloud condensation or ice crystal formation, thereby inducing precipitation. This process is typically used to increase precipitation or snow in areas experiencing water scarcity or drought conditions.

Cloud seeding was first performed in 1946 by American chemist Vincent Schaefer. He conducted experiments to artificially induce snow by seeding clouds with dry ice (solid carbon dioxide). This revolutionary experiment took place in the Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts, United States.

Since then, cloud seeding has been studied and implemented in various parts of the world to increase precipitation, reduce hail damage, and alleviate drought conditions.

Critics worry about the unintended consequences of introducing foreign substances into the atmosphere, which can affect air quality and ecosystems.
