The 16-year-old daughter of Slack co-founder, billionaire Stewart Butterfield, has been reported missing and is feared to be in one of San Francisco’s most dangerous neighborhoods.

Mint Butterfield, 16, was last seen Sunday evening at 10 p.m. in Bolinas, California, according to authorities. The teenager’s mother, Flickr founder Caterina Fake, reported her daughter missing on Monday, according to the San Francisco Standard.

Mint was living with her mother at the time of her disappearance and was attending a private boarding school in the Napa area.

“Mint was last seen wearing a black hoodie, flannel pajama bottoms and black boots”according to the authorities.

The 1.5 meter tall teenager with curly, dark red hair and earrings in her eyebrows is believed to have fled to the Tenderloin, a dangerous area with high crime, extreme violence, where street people find shelter and where drugs are sold . The area is close to downtown San Francisco.

Mint Butterfield is alleged to be a drug user and known to frequent the Tenderloin.

“Please contact the police with any information about this case,” the sheriff’s office reported.

Stewart Butterfield, the teenager’s father, co-founded messaging app Slack in 2013, and left the company after Salesforce acquired the platform for $28 billion in 2021. According to Forbes, his net worth is about $1.6 billion of dollars.

The mother, Caterina Fake, founded the Flickr image service with Butterfield in 2004 and sold the company to Yahoo! in 2005 for about $30 million.

Fake and Stewart Butterfield married in 2001 but divorced in 2007, the year their daughter was born.

Mint Butterfield is the couple’s only child.

Stewart Butterfield remarried Jennifer Rubio, co-founder and CEO of handbag manufacturer and retailer Away, in 2020.

In 2021, the couple sold their San Francisco home following Butterfield’s departure from Slack and moved into a $25 million luxury mansion in Aspen.

Rubio and Stewart Butterfield also own a $32.2 million mansion in Southampton, New York.

They also own two properties in expensive New York neighborhoods: a $27.27 million West Village home and a $20 million Tribeca home.
