After George Simion, the leader of AUR, and Mihail Neamțu, one of the formation’s candidates for the European parliament, were seen at Gigi Becali’s palace, the FCBS boss stated that, among other things, the financing of the electoral campaign was discussed. In the same context, the businessman admitted that he also loaned PSD 500,000 euros.

“Let’s see if I will give a helping hand to Neamțu, that he is running for the European Parliament, but there is no time now. (..) If he came earlier, we would have lent him, the party, 500 thousand (n. ed.: euros), just as we lent the PSD. Now we borrow the GOLD. Let’s see a formula, to borrow him, if it’s legal to borrow Mihail Neamțu and he to finance his campaign“, said Gigi Becali.
George Simion stated, however, that he did not ask Becali for money.
“There were some holy fathers from the Comanca Monastery and I did a bit of catechesis, I cracked an egg, I said Christ is risen to all Orthodox Christians”. Simion stated.
On the other hand, the spokesperson of AUR, Dan Tănasă, declared for “Adevărul” that the discussions about the loan concerned the candidate for the European Parliament.
“Mr. George Simion went to a private meeting with the Comanca monks. Related discussion financing is a private matter between Mr. Neamțu and Mr. Becali. We are happy with the support offered by Mr. Becali for Mihail Neamțu”he explained.
Regarding the loan granted by George Becali, Gabriela Firea, who is also the daughter-in-law of FCSB’s boss, told Hotnews that it is a financing given to PSD, in compliance with the law.
“He didn’t lend me, he borrowed the party, the national PSD, through a notary public, under the terms of the law. (..) The money is for the general campaign, the loan was for European parliaments, not for local ones. In any case, the local amounts are much lower than in the European ParliamentGabriela Firea explained.
