Romania has four players in the main draw of the “WTA 1000” tournament in Rome. Eliminated in the final of the qualifications, Jaqueline Cristian (68 WTA) will play in the second round, after the withdrawal of the Czech Barbora Krejcikova.

On Wednesday, Irina Begu started the match in the first round with the Spanish Rebeka Masarova (104 WTA), interrupted twice by rain, then postponed.

After a first set won by Masarova with a score of 7-5, the Romanian ranked 161st in the world managed a 6-3 that sent the match into the decisive set.

The match will resume after 13:30. From 17:30, Sorana Cîrstea will meet the Czech Brenda Fruhvirtova (102 WTA), and Ana Bogdan against Marketa Vondrousova (6 WTA), in the second round.

Jaqueline Cristian (68 WTA) will also play in the second round, who, although she lost the final of the qualifications, takes advantage of the withdrawal of Barbora Krejcikova and will meet the Russian Elina Avanesyan (72 WTA), after 15:30.
