“Today, we have more than 20,000 Starlink (terminals), the operation of which is financed by Poland,” Polish Prime Minister for Digitization Krzysztof Gawkowski said during a visit to Kiev, quoted by the PAP agency.

“Starlink supports the Ukrainian army, but also hospitals,” he emphasized.

In January, the Polish Ministry of Digitization announced that Warsaw is “the largest supplier of Starlink terminals” for Kyiv, with 7,990 terminals transmitted, writes Agerpres.

Starlink has a network of over 2,000 low-Earth orbit satellites connected to ground terminals that enable the generation of Wi-Fi and therefore Internet access.

After the start of the Russian invasion, Elon Musk’s company, Space X, delivered several thousand terminals there, essential for the communications of the Ukrainian military.

Ukraine and Elon Musk have been maintaining complex relations for several months. Kiev thanked him for deploying satellites, but later expressed outrage when he proposed that Ukraine cede territory to achieve peace.

Gawkowski made a surprise visit to Kiev, where he met with Minister for Digital Transformation Mihailo Fedorov. The two responsible parties signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of cyber security.

“We agreed that Russia’s threats to Poland and Ukraine in the cyber field are very similar,” the Polish minister added. “Poland is engaged in a cold cyber war with Russia,” Gawkowski said.

The German and Czech governments earlier in May accused Russian hackers controlled by Moscow of a recent campaign of cyber attacks in their countries, “malicious behavior” to which the EU promised a strong response.
