Eight people remained in the race for Mangalia City Hall after the magistrates decided that Vasile Cosmin Truşcă, the candidate of the AUR party, does not meet the legal conditions to participate in the electoral competition on June 9, 2024, when the local elections take place.

George Simion’s party was left without a candidate for the Mangalia City Hall after the Constanța Court decided, definitively, that Vasile Cosmin Trușcă cannot run for the position of Mangalia mayor.

Initially, his candidacy had been validated by the Electoral Office of Mangalia District No. 2, but Ozghiun Menabit (candidate for Mangalia City Hall from the We Are Mangalia Alliance) challenged Cosmin Trușca’s candidacy for Mangalia City Hall, from AUR. On the merits, the appeal was accepted by the Mangalia Court.

“Admit the appeal filed by the appellant Menabit Ozghiun, contrary to the respondent Electoral Bureau of Circumscription no. 2 Municipality of Mangalia, against Decision no. 17 of 29.04.2024 of the Electoral Office of Circumscription no. 2 Mangalia Municipality. Cancel Decision no. 17 of 29.04.2024 of the Electoral Office of Circumscription no. 2 Municipality of Mangalia and, consequently, rejects the candidacy of the respondent Trușcă Cosmin Vasile for the position of mayor of the municipality of Mangalia on behalf of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians – AUR”, the judges’ decision states.

However, the decision was not final, so Trușca appealed it, which was resolved at the Constanța Court. The court decided to reject the appeal declared as unfounded, without any other appeal.

“Rejects, as unfounded, the appeal declared by the appellant-defendant Trușcă Cosmin Vasile against civil sentence no. 684/02.05.2024 pronounced by the Mangalia Court in file no. 2308/254/2024, in contradiction with the appellant respondent Menabit Ozghiun and the respondent respondent Electoral Bureau of Circumscription no. 2 Mangalia”, it is mentioned in the final decision of the Constanța Court.

On the other hand, Truşcă’s candidacy was challenged by the current mayor Cristian Radu, an appeal that followed the same path. More precisely, it was admitted to the Mangalia Court and remained final at the Constanța Court.

Apparently, Truşca’s candidacy was rejected on the grounds that the lists presented had collected signatures for another candidate. More precisely, for Daniel Coleașa, who was supposed to run for AUR, only that he was changed a few hours before going to the Electoral Office. Specifically, the county coordinator Mohammad Murad decided to withdraw Coleașa and go with Trușca. Consequently, they would have deleted Coleașa’s name from the lists and passed the new candidate.

The reaction of the party led by George Simion

The reaction of those from the AUR did not take long to appear, they accused the failure of “the political octopus from Mangalia who obtained the invalidation of Cosmin Trușca’s candidacy from the AUR for Mangalia City Hall, under the conditions that the Electoral Bureau had validated this candidacy”. Moreover, he accuses the current mayor Radu Cristian of being “hand in hand with Menabit Ozghiun because they both attacked the decision of the Electoral District Office with the clear aim of eliminating a candidate who had the potential to end the Penelist reign in Mangalia”.

Asked by Cuget Liber what evidence they have in this regard, those from the AUR refused to answer the question and present any evidence and said that they would clarify these uncertainties in a future press conference.

It remains to be seen what else could be clarified, as long as two courts gave the same solution regarding the AUR candidate.

In other news, even if Vasile Cosmin Trușcă was removed from the race for Mangalia City Hall, those from AUR claim that their fight will continue.

“We appeal to all the residents of the city who really want change at the level of the public administration to vote for the AUR list for the Mangalia City Council, opened by Dr. Mohammad Murad, Dr. Dan-Nicolae Lefter and Cosmin Trușcă,” the people from GOLD.

We remind you that Mohammad Murad is also running for the position of president of the Constanța County Council from the AUR.

Who participates for the position of mayor and who has lists at the City Council

Under these conditions, out of nine candidacies initially admitted by the Electoral Bureau of Circumscription no. 2 Mangalia have eight left.
