Tragic incident on DN18: The car involved in the accident was consumed by flamesYesterday, May 05, at 5:19 p.m., the Baia Sprie Police was notified via SNUAU 112 about the fact that on DN 18, in the area of a public place, there was a road accident that resulted in the burning of a car.
The operative team went to the scene and found that a 33-year-old man, who was driving a car, on a road with a slight curve to the left, would have left the direction of travel, hitting the metal pillar that supports the access gate head-on the courtyard of the public place. Later, the car would have been projected back onto the road, and following the impact it caught fire. The driver self-evacuated.
An ISU Maramureș crew intervened on the scene and succeeded in extinguishing the fire, and a SMURD crew took over the victim to give him medical care.
The driver was tested with the breathalyzer and the rapid drug-test device, the results were negative in both cases. Biological samples were collected from him.
Road traffic was blocked in both directions for approximately 30 minutes, and was subsequently driven in one lane for approximately 40 minutes.
The police are continuing the investigation, and legal measures will be taken.
