• Takeover of Automecanica Mediaș by Rheinmetall – authorized by the Competition Council.

The Competition Council announced on Tuesday that it authorized the operation by which Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH intends to take over the company Automecanica Mediaș SRL and its subsidiary, Ateliere Speciale Autocamioane Mediaș SRL, announces Course of Governance.

The German defense industry giant Rheinmetall takes over, through Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH, a 72.5% stake in the Romanian vehicle manufacturer Automecanica Mediaş, which will become Rheinmetall Automecanica SRL.

The Governance Course makes an analysis about the part of the GDP that goes to work, by comparison with the EU states, and notices a productivity problem. The compensation of Romanian employees for the work performed rose in 2023 to 11 euros/hour, but it still places us in second last place in the European Union, after Bulgaria (9.3 euros/month). Although we are still at a low level of employee compensation, which practically translates into labor costs, in terms of annual growth we are at the top of Europe. Moreover, EU member states in Eastern Europe have the largest percentage increases in labor costs in 2023.
