In a country with such an increased level of aggression on the roads, you have to know how to face the challenges. The wisest reaction is not to answer them, said Titi Aur, a former rally driver and defensive driving expert, when asked during Digi24’s “In front of you” show how to disarm “a beast” in traffic.

“First of all, you don’t respond to his aggression in any way whatsoever. We can learn this from puppies. When a puppy runs past a worse dog or several dogs on the street, do you know what it does to get away? He doesn’t look at them, he turns his head away. Let’s learn this from the animals: when one attacks you (no in traffic) don’t look away. But don’t look, not in that ostentatious way, so as to annoy him. Don’t pay attention or say: well sir, even if he was wrong, I’ll go, because otherwise a beast, if we’re even talking about a beast in traffic, will try to attack you, harass you, and if you put your mind to it with that, you can only end up in a conflict: either fights in traffic, or all kinds of harassment without necessarily physical consequences, or serious accidents”, believes Titi Aur.

The former rally driver told how he himself reacted when he was challenged in traffic. “I had moments when I was challenged, recognized. I’ll give you just one example: I was in a Mitsubishi car with all-wheel drive, powerful, and someone came next to me with a car like that. He recognized me, he said at the traffic lights to make a dash and I said yes. And when I left, I left much more slowly and left him. And he went home quietly, probably, he said to him at the block: Mother, Titi Aur, I hit him with the car. So what? I didn’t get hurt, but if I put my mind to it, I could be the moral author of an accident. Then I gave him that joy, let him say that he beat me. He left first and that’s it, and I went about my business”, explained Titi Aur.

Another manifestation of aggressiveness in traffic is the flashes given on the highway. What to do in such a situation? “It annoys me first of all, I’m not crazy, but it’s really frustrating when you have lane 1 busy. you are in lane 2 at a speed close to the limit of 130 per hour and when an aggressive one comes, that he wants to pass and you have nowhere to go is annoying. But I don’t try to attack him, when I find a place I let him go, but really, this must be sanctioned, it’s frustrating and ugly”, Titi Aur pointed out.
