The car of a city hall, involved in a road accident, on the Day of Flowers, when the mayor should not have used the official car, in his free time!

The fact that some of our mayors consider that, once they win a mayor’s mandate, they almost take both the mayor’s office and the assets belonging to the local administration as a natural person, is not news to anyone. Using the company car in one’s own interest is a well-known practice among county mayors. This happens, without exception, also in the commune of Obârsia de Câmp, where the town hall car is at the town hall’s disposal. This time, however, on a weekend day (more precisely – Sunday, Palm Sunday), the town hall car was involved in a road accident, occurring within the radius of Salcia commune, an accident that resulted in material damage. Following the accident, an amicable settlement was reached, and today, the town hall car arrived at an authorized service center in Drobeta Turnu Severin, being brought to the platform. As the cars belonging to some institutions can only be used in circumstances related to public administration activity, any other use outside of that being considered abuse of office, we cannot help but wonder what administrative issues the representatives of the town hall will have to solve on the Day of Flowers Countryside, so as to require the use of a company car?

In addition, the use, outside the program hours and in personal interest, of the Dacia Duster car, which is owned by the Obârsia de Câmp Local Council, by the mayor of the locality is not a novelty, but rather a rule, because, repeatedly, the mayoress was seen using her company car at home as well.

Marinela Dumitrele has been mayor of the Obârsia de Câmp commune since 2020, and during her mandate, no notable investment was made in the community she leads. However, the mayor’s office is appearing before the electorate, again, in the June 9 elections, to ask for a vote of confidence for a new mandate.
