The Minister of Health Alexandru Rafila met today with the representatives of the Professional Association of Outpatient Doctors, who have been on strike for several weeks in Japan, to discuss the issues related to improving the financing of medical services and increasing the income of specialist and primary doctors who provide specialized outpatient medical services.

During the meeting, issues related to improving the financing of medical services and increasing the income of specialist and primary doctors who provide specialized outpatient medical services were discussed. The Minister of Health supports the development of services in specialized outpatient clinics, an essential level of care that manages to provide pre-hospital medical assistance for over 97% of the patients who come to them.

It is necessary to identify some financial resources at the level of the National Health Insurance House to increase the value of the point of medical services in the specialized outpatient clinic from 4.5 lei, as it is currently, to a value that ensures the sustainability of the offices of the 9,708 specialist doctors and mayors and at the same time reduce the funding gap with primary and hospital healthcare. This policy is consistent with the National Health Strategy and can ensure the sustainability of the financing of the health system. Concrete ways of support were also discussed so that young specialists can practice in the field of ambulatory medical services.

Until the financial problem is solved, the specialist doctors in the outpatient clinics are determined to continue the Japanese strike.
