A 26-year-old man from Caraș-Severin County was detained by the police in Timișoara after he caused a traffic accident and left the scene because he was drunk, drugged and driving with a suspended license.

The policemen of the Timișoara Traffic Bureau were alerted by calling 112, on Sunday, at around 19:40, regarding the fact that on Ardealului street in the municipality of Timișoara, there was a traffic accident resulting in the injury of two people, the driver responsible for the accident the accident by leaving the scene without the consent of the police or the prosecutor.

The police immediately went to the scene finding out that a man was driving a car on Ardealului street in the municipality of Timișoara, and at one point he collided head-on with a car, driven by a woman aged 31 years, after the impact the driver guilty of the accident leaving the scene.

At the same time, the impact resulted in the injury of two women, namely the 31-year-old woman and a passenger of the same age in the car driven by her.

Following the investigations carried out, shortly after, the police officers of the Road Bureau identified and located the driver, namely a 26-year-old man, who was taken to the police headquarters for questioning.

Following the checks carried out in the databases, it turned out that the young man appears to have a canceled driver’s license.

At the same time, after testing with the breathalyzer, it was found that he was under the influence of alcoholic beverages, namely 0.84 mg/l of pure alcohol in the exhaled air.

Also, after testing with the device provided by the young man, indications emerged regarding the possible presence of psychoactive substances.

The young man was taken to a hospital unit, for the collection of biological samples, in order to accurately establish the consumption of prohibited substances.

The suspect was detained for 24 hours for culpable bodily harm, driving a motor vehicle on public roads with a revoked driver’s license, driving a motor vehicle on public roads under the influence of alcoholic beverages, driving a motor vehicle under the influence of psychoactive substances and leaving the scene of an accident without the consent of the police or the prosecutor.

He was introduced to the Detention and Preventive Arrest Center of the Caraș-Severin County Police Inspectorate.
