Volker Raffel, CEO of E.ON Romania, spoke during the RO 3.0 project, the “Restart & Repower Romania – New energy and development strategy” summit, about the importance of investments in the electricity distribution network.

The most efficient managers in the energy industry, top members of the Government and Parliament, experts in the field of renewable resources are meeting today, in a summit organized by Antena3 CNN, on the RO 3.0 platform. The “Restart&Repower Romania” debate aims to identify the best action plans for increasing Romania’s energy supply on regional markets, capitalizing on primary resources, but also increasing energy consumption through the reindustrialization of the country.

“(…) We need another electricity distribution network. If we don’t invest today, in time, it will be too late and we end up in a deadlock. We don’t want that. We also need other projects, and classic power plants, but renewables help us at the moment, they are greener, we have a generation system that is less dependent, because the sun is not controlled by Putin.

With the investments that are being made now, the price of electricity is falling. Now we are in a discussion with the regulator, with ANRE, to establish the investment framework for the next 5 years.

There is an extremely important discussion for the development of Romania, let’s not end up with a blockage of electricity, which is produced in the photovoltaic panels, but which cannot reach the customers if the network is not suitable.

(…) 70% of the investments we talked about are now added not to the transmission network, but also to the distribution network, and that’s why we need to invest there as well”, said Volker Raffel, CEO of E.ON Romania.
