Three injured in an accident caused by a drunk driver, who did not secure himself when entering the road with priority

Three men were injured, Wednesday evening, in the collision between a car and a van. The accident occurred on the E 81 road, in the town of Şardu, commune of Sânpaul.

“From the first investigations carried out at the scene of the road accident, it emerged that a group of vehicles (car and trailer) driven by a 49-year-old man from Cluj county, on DC 143, in the direction of Cluj-Napoca, upon entering the DN 1F BE 81, collided with a group of vehicles driven towards Zalău by a 48-year-old man from Maramureș county,” IPJ Cluj reported.

The driver who caused the accident was drunk

Two special vehicles with extrication mode, two SMURD crews and a SAJ crew arrived at the accident, who found a damaged car and two vans.

“In one of the vehicles was imprisoned a man who had multiple traumas and loss of consciousness. The firefighters acted immediately, with the equipment provided, to ensure access to the victim stuck in the car, as well as to extricate and extract him without aggravating the injuries suffered. The man was extracted and handed over to the SMURD crew, type of mobile intensive therapy, for emergency medical assistance and transport to the hospital. According to the first evaluations, the man is in a serious condition”, the quoted source said.

Testing with the breathalyzer of the driver from Cluj indicated a concentration of 0.78 mg/l of pure alcohol in the exhaled air. In the case of the other driver, the test with the breathalyzer had a negative result.

Two other men were consulted at the scene of the accident, by the SMURD and SAJ crews, and were then transported to the hospital for medical care. According to the first assessments, they were conscious and cooperative.

The police opened a criminal case for culpable bodily harm and driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
