Good news about a month before Easter! Some foods could become cheaper, after officials proposed that the prices of some products be capped.

At Easter, some foods may have capped prices

Before Easter, officials plan to cap the price of some foods. According to antena3.ro, this ceiling would target traditional products that could have a commercial addition of a maximum of 20%.

While Romanians are happy that they could buy the products in this category at lower prices, specialists criticize the executive’s measure. I say that this cap could make other foods more expensive.

Florin Barbu, the Minister of Agriculture, was the one who announced that he is preparing a draft law by which Romanian products will have a commercial addition of a maximum of 20%. The purpose of this ceiling is to make Romanians buy products in Romania and to increase the sale of traditional Romanian products.

17 basic food products currently have the addition capped at 20%, but it is very possible that during the Easter holidays the list will be extended.

Who are the Romanians who will receive money from the state for the purchase of lamb and lamb for Easter?

In 2024, the Romanian state offers money to help people buy lamb or lamb for Easter. This form of aid from the state is intended for the residents of Cluj county, and the total budget is 6,000,000 lei.
