Employees of the National Company “Pošta Română” went on strike, starting today, demanding an increase of 400 lei in salaries, as well as an increase in the loyalty bonus.
In Botoșani and Iași counties, post office employees stopped work, according to the union leader from Iași, Liviu Ganea:
Liviu Ganea: Some colleagues are on strike. They are still held back by fear, because we were divided, but I think they are slowly noticing what is happening in the country and will start with all the pressure.
In Neamț county, it was not possible to go on strike because several checks from the national level were carried out, said the union leader, Costel Atomei.
Costel Atomei: At the level of Neamț county, no strike is taking place from what has been announced so far by the colleagues in the county, this is due to the pressures, due to even the intimidation to which the employees in the county are subjected.
Constantin Mihai: As I said, on the other hand, now a check is also being carried out on you.
Costel Atomei: That’s right, and that says a lot. Our demands consisted – and still consist – in a salary increase of 400 lei and a gradual increase in the increase in loyalty, which would make the difference between a newly hired employee and a senior employee.

In Galati, all the offices of the Romanian National Post Company are closed to the public.
Although the employees are all on schedule, they are not working.
The union leader, Adrian Tatu, stated that almost 300 employees of the Romanian Post Office in Galati started the protest action.
He said no “general strike” notices were displayed inside post offices, as internal order regulations forbid this.
Several people from Galați came to the post office today without knowing about the start of the strike.
Radio Romania correspondent, Maria Măndiță, spoke with some of them:
The management of the Romanian Post assures that the institution’s activity is carried out normally, in most counties, in the context of the general strike launched by the union.
The company states that more than 80% of the employees will fulfill their duties and mentions that approximately 20% of the employees joined the collective labor conflict in writing.
The company’s representatives say that, despite the strike, there will be no delays in the payment of pensions, nor in the functioning of all other services.
