Sonos wants to expand in 2024 and enter new product areas, and we’re talking about headphones here. It’s a brave attempt, in a crowded market, where names like Bose, Sony, Bowers & Wilkins or Sennheiser play. Well Sonos Ace would be the name of the first pair of Sonos headphones, which has just appeared in unofficial photo leaks.
We are dealing with a pair of over-ear headphones here, which will compete with models like Sennheiser Momentum or Apple AirPods Max. How did the image appear on the web? It was published by Schuurman, an authorized partner of the Sonos. Here we see a pair of headphones with physical buttons on both ear cups and a physical “toggle” button.
The design is reminiscent of AirPods Max, with small metal rods between the top band and the cups. Another leak also indicates what we get in the box: protective cover, USB-C cable, 3.5 mm adapter and a mysterious black box. Unfortunately, we don’t have any specifications for the headphones either, but we do know that they will have deep integration with Sonos speakers. Owners of Sonos soundbars will be able to listen to the audio feed from the TV on the headphones.
The price circulated by Schuurman is 403 euros. As an idea, it is about 100 euros less than AirPods Max. Apparently we’re also getting a new portable speaker from Sonos, the Roam 2. Sonos has a new app coming out on May 7th, so we’ll find out more then.
