Manchester City bulldozer striker Erling Haaland will become the main character in the popular mobile game Clash of Clansannounced the developers at Supercell.
The animated version of Haaland will become the Barbarian King in the game, Supercell said.
Starting Wednesday, players will be able to recruit the Norwegian striker to join them or try to destroy his village.
Haaland, a long-time fan of Clash of Clanssaid that morphing into a playable character is “really cool”.
The fantasy video game challenges players to build their own village and launch raids on others to gain more power.
It has been downloaded over two billion times since it was released more than a decade ago.
Haaland’s character is the first in the game based on a real person.
“When we found out that Haaland is a fan of our game and wants to team up with us, it was truly a dream scenario”, said Stuart McGaw, General Manager of Clash of Clans.
“Our team has done everything possible to bring him, one of the best athletes in the world, into the world of the game so that our players can enjoy a truly special moment.“
Manchester City footballer Haaland, 23, posted a trailer for the game on social media.
“From the football field to the battlefield! I am the new Barbarian King in Clash of Clans“, he wrote.
In a statement, he added: “It’s been hard to keep this a secret, but I’m excited to finally be able to talk about this epic partnership with Clash of Clans.
“I’ve been a huge fan of the game for a long time and I know everything about it, so to appear as a character in the game is really cool.“
This is not the first time that Haaland has become the face of a video game. He was also the cover star of EA FC 24, formerly known as Fifa.
Other recent collaborations between video games and celebrities include Fortnite with Lady Gaga and Billie Eilish, and Call of Duty with Nicki Minaj.
Erling Braut Haaland is currently the top scorer in the Premier League, with 21 goals scored for Manchester City. And there is a very good chance that they will finish the championship with another 3-4 goals.
