Nubia Flip 5G, a “cheap” foldable, also launched in Europe

--

Nubia Flip 5G, one of the cheapest clamshell foldable phones on the market, recently launched on the Chinese market, is arriving in Europe quite quickly. Although it cannot be found in local retail stores in Romania, everyone in the EU can order the phone from the manufacturer’s official website at an advantageous launch offer. Thus, the Nubia Flip 5G is not only one of the cheapest foldables in China, but also in Europe.

The new Nubia Flip 5G starts at 600 euros

Previously, at prices of 600 euros, you could find folding models 1-2 years old or second-hand models. The Nubia Flip 5G goes on sale at 599 euros in the base 8+256GB configuration, and it also comes with an introductory offer to attract a few extra orders. The first 200 customers who order the Nubia Flip 5G from the company’s website will receive a pair of Nubia Earbuds worth 40 euros, as well as 20 euros cashback for those who leave a review after the phone is delivered.

The Nubia Flip 5G model is also available in a higher version with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage, at 699 euros. The same launch offer is available for this variant as well, and deliveries will be made in the last week of May, according to the listing.

For a relatively affordable price, those who choose the Nubia Flip 5G will get a phone with a foldable clamshell screen on the inside. This is an AMOLED at 120 Hz with a diagonal of 6.9”, similar in size and format to what we also see from Samsung or Motorola in this segment. At the heart of this model is a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset, an older mid-range model, but powerful enough to ensure good normal use performance. However, a phone on this format would not be used as a gaming phone or for advanced video and photo editing.

With a large battery of 4,310 mAh and charging at 33W, this foldable could be among those with the best autonomy in its category. Of course, this also depends a lot on the software optimizations made by Nubia.

On the outside, the Nubia Flip 5G uses a 1.43” round screen, similar to that on smartwatches. Various widgets are displayed here that can display the time, weather or other quick information. Also here you can see yourself as in a mirror through the main 50 megapixel camera. The second camera is a “depth” one, for portrait mode.

Perhaps with the entry of players who can offer products at lower prices in the folding category, the bigger brands will also lower their prices to compete better. Motorola had a similar attempt a year ago, with the “standard” Motorola Razr 40 model, which was introduced to the market at a reduced price.
