Sonos recently unveiled the latest overhaul of its app, with the goal of optimizing the audio streaming experience.
The new version of the Sonos app allows users to organize their playlists, radio stations, albums and other forms of audio content from more than 100 streaming services, focusing them on one customizable home screen.
The update was designed to provide faster access to controls with a simple swipe up, eliminating the need to navigate between different tabs.
The application has been rebuilt on a modern software platform that promises a more intuitive, fast and efficient use. The new Sonos app is compatible with all existing products running on the S2 version of the Sonos app and will be released globally via a software update and a new web app starting May 7, 2024.

The new features prioritize a personalized listening experience, allowing users to put their favorite content in the spotlight and customize their streaming experience to their own preferences. Users no longer need to navigate between multiple tabs, as the new home screen centralizes all controls and favorite content in one place. This makes it easy to quickly return to the last songs you played, access recommendations from your favorite streaming services and play music throughout your home.
In addition, home screen customization allows users to arrange and edit content and services to their liking. Another notable feature is integrated search, which allows users to simultaneously search for an artist, song, podcast, or audiobook across all streaming apps through a search bar accessible directly from the home screen.
System control is also improved, with users able to access and control their entire Sonos system by simply swiping up from the main screen to adjust volume or group speakers for an optimal audio experience.
The new web app, which will be available from 7 May 2024, will offer the same features as the mobile app, being accessible from any web browser and replacing the current Sonos desktop controller.
