Returning to the court in March (she was eliminated in the inaugural round in Miami), Simona Halep has minimal chances of receiving a wild card for Roland Garros 2024, the second Grand Slam tournament of the season.

Simona Halep, minimal chances of receiving a wild card from the Roland Garros organizers
At least that’s what the journalists at tennisuptodate.com claim. They cite as an example the tournament in Rome (which will debut on May 8), a competition where the organizers preferred to skip names such as Emma Răducanu, Caroline Wozniacki or Simona Halep from the list of wild cards.
The organizers of the Foro Italico have chosen to offer participation invitations to sportswomen from Italy.
It is also known that the organizers in Paris offer many wild cards to the young talents of French tennis every year.
Under these conditions, the cited source writes that Simona Halep (32 years old) has minimal chances of receiving a wild card from the French. The former WTA leader conquered the Porte d’Auteuil tournament in the 2018 edition and also contested two other finals: 2014 (defeated by Maria Sharapova) and 2017 (lost to Jelena Ostapenko).
“It will be the same story at Roland Garros (no like WTA Rome), with the French Tennis Federation favoring French athletes in terms of wild cards, to the detriment of players who have been successful at Roland Garros in the past” – tennisuptodate .com.
The only important tournament (after the participation in Miami) that offered Simona a wild card was the one in Madrid (WTA 1000 category competition, same as in Rome). However, Halep did not participate in the Caja Magica due to health problems.
The Roland Garros Grand Slam will take place between May 26 and June 9. Qualifying will start a week earlier.
The reigning champions from Paris are Iga Swiatek and Novak Djokovic.
>> OPINION. How fair is it for Simona Halep to receive wild cards? It all started with Maria Sharapova, when the Russian also came back after doping and Halep then challenged her
