The fight between former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson and YouTube star Jake Paul, from July 20, will be considered a professional match, reports News.ro.

The result will appear in Iron Mike’s official record. The fight, in eight rounds of two minutes each, will take place in Dallas (Texas).

Tyson last fought professionally in 2005; his last victory was achieved in 2003, against Clifford Etienne. The official date of this fight, which will be broadcast on Netflix, was uncertain, especially because of the age difference between Tyson, who will turn 58 on June 30, and Paul, who is 27 years old.

“Mike Tyson wanted it to be a pro fight. Netflix wanted it to be a pro fight. So I agreed for it to be a professional fight”, said the youtuber on his X account.

Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions, the company organizing the fight, confirmed, explaining that everything was done to meet the requirements of the Texas commission responsible for licensing boxing fights.

During his tumultuous career, Tyson won 50 matches, 44 of them by knockout, but also suffered six defeats, some of them completely unexpected, such as in 1990, when he was dethroned by James ‘Buster’ Douglas in Tokyo.

His last world title came in Memphis in 2002 when he was knocked out in the eighth round by Lennox Lewis. The following year, Tyson defeated Clifford Etienne, but then suffered two defeats to Danny Williams in 2004 and Kevin McBride in 2005, announcing his retirement from the sport.

Jake Paul has 9 wins in his records, of which six before the limit and one defeat.
