Liverpool have made the first move to replace Klopp. The Cormorants are negotiating with Feyenoord

The English football club FC Liverpool contacted Arne Slot, the coach of the Dutch team Feyenoord Rotterdam, who has a good chance to replace the German Juergen Klopp at the end of this season, the British press informs.

The 45-year-old Dutch coach led Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title last season and won the Dutch Cup with the Rotterdam outfit on Sunday.

Juergen Klopp announced in January that he will leave Liverpool after the end of the current edition of the Premier League, and the “Cormorants” have since started an extensive search process for a new manager.

Arne Slot fits Liverpool’s criteria and, even if the decision to appoint him to the technical management of the group at Anfield has not been made, he has become a strong candidate to replace Klopp, according to the BBC.

However, an initial first bid for Arne Slot from Liverpool was rejected by the Dutch club. The “Cormorants” offered 9 million euros, but the amount is considered too small by the management of Feyenoord.

But if negotiations over the compensatory sums continue, Arne Slot seems more than happy to coach at Anfield, reports journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The name of the Dutchman was also mentioned in connection with the Tottenham Hotspur team last summer, before the Londoners hired the Australian Ange Postecoglou. Slot later extended his contract with Feyenoord until 2026.

The Spaniard Xabi Alonso was Liverpool’s first choice, but he decided to stay at Bayer Leverkusen next season as well. The Portuguese Ruben Amorim (Sporting Lisbon) and the Italian Roberto De Zerbi (Brighton) are two other technicians in the sights of the English. Amorim is currently in talks with West Ham United, while De Zerbi is in turn being courted by other clubs.
