Google is preparing to update its offering of streaming devices by launching a new Chromecast 4K with Google TV. The launch event is expected to take place during the Google I/O 2024 conference, which will start on May 14.

The new model of Chromecast 4K is anticipated to keep the price of $49.99, equivalent to the current price of the 2020 model. A significant novelty is also an improved remote control, which could bring additional functions compared to the previous version.

Specific details about this remote have yet to be fully revealed, but it is speculated to include recently added buttons, such as a “magic button” that would allow users to customize quick access to favorite apps or to change the video source.

More details about the new Chromecast 4K

It is also possible that the new Chromecast 4K will be equipped with a more advanced chipset, probably the Amlogic S905X5 that was released last year. This processor, built on a 6nm architecture, would be more energy efficient than the 12nm Amlogic S905X3 chip used in the current model.

Even though information about the full specifications of the new device is not yet available, it is said that Google will opt for a larger storage capacity and improved RAM to support the superior performance required for optimal use of streaming applications and services.
