Dinamo Bucharest qualified this evening in the ace box of the European League, after winning the double leg in the quarter-finals of the competition against Skjern.
In the tour, in Bucharest, in the first match, the Romanians won by a margin, score 28-27, but in the return leg from Denmark, Xavi Pascual’s boys played flawlessly and gave almost no chance to the opponent, despite the fact that he was performing in front of his own fans.
The first sequences of the confrontation were balanced, and after 10 minutes from the starting whistle, the Bucharesters had a minimum lead, of a single goal, 8-7. With many Romanian fans in the stands, Dinamo was very precise and slowly broke away, taking over the reins of the game.
Militaru received a red card in the first part of the duel in Denmark, but even so, Dinamo continued to be the better team and put pressure on the hosts’ shoulders.
After 20 minutes of the game, “Dulaii” already had a lead of 6 goals, at the end of an extremely good performance, in which they scored goal after goal.
At the break, Dinamo entered with no less than 8 goals difference, after 30 flawless minutes, in which the red-whites flew on the field, pushed from behind by the Romanian fans who traveled to Denmark and who created an atmosphere dreamlike.
Dinamo Bucharest is in the Final Four of the European League
The second half of the game was much more balanced, with the Danes trying to get back into the match despite an extremely complicated task.
In the 40th minute, the Danes came within 5 lengths, 20-25, but Dinamo did not allow the opponent to create an incendiary match ending and maintained the gap. 10 minutes before the end, Skjern came to only 4 goals, but in vain, because the team from Romania won the duel and the double leg, qualifying for the semifinals of the competition.
The game ended 38-34 for the country’s champion, and Romania once again has a team in the Final Four of the European League, 10 years away from when HCM Constanța reached this stage of the competition.
Dinamo is the second Romanian men’s team to reach the Final Four of a European cup, after the performance of those from HCM Constanța, in the 2013-2014 season, in the EHF Cup, as the current competition was then called.
Then, the Dobrogens played against Montpellier (32-26) in the semi-finals, and the game took place in Berlin. Dinamo, having reached the ace box, will now also play in Germany, but in Hamburg, where other German teams could also end up, depending on what will happen in the other return duels in the quarter-finals.
