Italy summoned the Russian ambassador on Saturday after Moscow announced that it had passed the Ariston Thermo Group subsidiary under the control of the Russian state energy giant Gazprom, announced the head of Italian diplomacy, Antonio Tajani, reports France Presse, quoted by Agerpres.

We also work with Brussels and are in touch with Germany, given that the Bosch company was also targeted, he added.

In another message, Tajani said that he had discussed with the management of Ariston and that Rome “is with the companies, ready to protect them in all international markets”.

The takeover was recorded in a Russian decree published on Friday, although dated Thursday and signed by President Vladimir Putin.

According to the text, it transfers control of 100% of Ariston’s shares in Russian companies to Gazprom Household Systems, a subsidiary of the Russian state giant Gazprom.

Since the invasion of Ukraine, Moscow has seized the Russian subsidiaries of several Western companies, including Danone and Danish brewer Carlsberg, placing them under what it describes as “temporary control” and presenting the measures as a response to Western sanctions on the companies Russian.

Western officials and some of these companies denounced Moscow’s “nationalization” of private property.
