Ana, aged 44, died on Saturday after being attacked by a pack of dogs while jogging in the Lacul Morii area of Bucharest. She had been attacked by dogs not a year ago in the same area, and escaped with her life only thanks to the brave intervention of other sportsmen who happened to be passing by the area. One of them spoke to Digi24 about how he saved Ana a year ago, but also how the authorities ignored the incident.

Marius Neacșa says that the woman was close to death a year ago, when she was attacked by dogs in the same field. He suffered serious injuries, but survived the attack. “It was last April. I was cycling with another colleague. I noticed she was in that field and the moment she was surrounded by dogs I ran off my bike, found a branch on the ground, chased those dogs away. My colleague called 112, the crews came, I got her out of there, she was very injured. Rescue came, took her to the hospital. Later, I met her also in the area, she was running, she showed me the results of the operations”, says the witness.

Marius Neacșa claims that the incident was ignored by the authorities, although he reported, just a few months after the first attack on Ana, that the dog packs returned to the area. “Exactly on the day the event happened, we were called by the Capital Police, I and my colleague gave statements, and the policeman promised us that in the future when we have such a situation we should call him. Which I did last September when these dogs started reappearing in the pack as well. The policeman’s response was strange to say the least. He said it wasn’t in his jurisdiction, even though I told him “you’re on the case, you should get involved.” He told me to call ASPA, I also called ASPA. A man from ASPA contacted me to send him pictures, I also sent him these pictures. I tried to call the police on the same day to no avail,” said Marius Neacșa, live on Digi24.
