Greenpeace Romania organizes, in Galati, at the end of the month, the event “First steps towards an energy community”. The meeting, which will take place on May 28, at the “Ibis Styles Dunărea” Hotel, Galati, is structured as a workshop dedicated to local public authorities, non-governmental organizations, SMEs, but also citizens of Galati interested in starting way to establish an energy community.

Energy communities are local initiatives where citizens, small businesses, local governments and other organizations collaborate to collectively generate, manage and consume energy. These initiatives not only support the development and use of renewable energy sources such as solar energy, but also promote energy efficiency, reducing dependence on traditional energy sources and helping to reduce carbon emissions.

“Galați will host the first edition of this series of workshops due to the increased interest at the local level in the subject of energy communities (it is a place from which we received signatures in the Memorandum for energy communities, including from the City Hall), but also because it is one of the counties included in the Just Transition Program”, according to a press release issued by Greenpeace Romania.

The facilitator of the event will be Corina Murafa, expert in energy and climate policies.
