One of the most successful businessmen in post-December Romania, Alexandru Alexandrov, passed away after a battle with a chronic illness. Alexandrov is the “father” of the giant Altex, a company he founded.
Alexandrov’s funeral will take place on Thursday, May 2, from 7:00 p.m., the lifeless body being deposited in the chapel of the Petru y Pavel Cemetery, informs Budgetul.ro.
Alexandru Alexandrov was the one who founded the Altex company, and later he was one of the most important players in the construction industry in Romania.
He led Altex until it entered insolvency
Alex Alexandrov founded his first business in 1991, setting up SC Alex SRL, the oldest private company in Iasi in the field. However, after several decades of activity, it was forced to file for insolvency following the economic crisis of 2008-2012.
During that difficult period, the turnover decreased significantly, from 6.1 million lei in 2007 to only 1 million lei in 2011. The net profit registered in 2007 of 125,000 lei turned into a net loss in 2011 , in the amount of 700,000 lei. As a result, it was necessary to reduce the number of employees from 88 to 19.
Over the years, the company has had construction or modernization contracts with various entities, including Iași City Hall, Petrom, the Metropolis of Moldova and Bucovina, and the General Directorate of Customs.
The insolvency request of SC Compania pentru Construcții Alex was made by SC Clima Therm Center SRL and approved by the court in July 2012. At the same time, BRD initiated a separate process at the Court of Iași, requesting the approval of the forced execution of his company Alexandrov for the amount of 1,505,403 lei, representing an unpaid loan.
