In Romania for the last 30 years, tax and tax payers witnessed the big spikes from which some made fortunes, and they, the tax payers, also found themselves having to pay for the pots broken by others.
And we don’t have to go far back in history, we don’t have to go back to the famous Bancorex bankruptcy in 1997, which meant 2.4 billion dollars lost by Romania. Let’s look at our recent history. There have been three major bankruptcies in the insurance market in the last eight years. Following the? RCA policies have become more expensive, every driver in this country pays the damages, and those who were appointed by PSD and PNL to ASF, to supervise the market, continue to receive 16 salaries annually – the boss receives 16,000 euros per month – and more they also receive performance bonuses.
And the list of these examples can go on. It is enough to look in our communities. Where there is no asphalt on many streets, where everything seems gray and hopeless, not a finger has moved there for 30 years. It was stolen there. The future of a community that deserved to live in a modern Romania was stolen!
The real theft from the Ministry of Health
The Court of Accounts shows in an official report from December 2023 the robbery of public money at the Ministry of Health led by Alexandru Rafila (PSD).
The report shows that medicines worth 800 million lei exist only on paper. They were paid, they appear in the documents, they never reached the patients. The same report of the Court of Accounts also shows that medical equipment was paid, but even at this time it was not put into operation, that payments in the system were made illegally, that money that the Ministry of Health had the legal right to recover was not he recovered.
This is how Romania is stolen! With such data in front of us, we can reasonably ask ourselves: if there are such examples in every ministry, how bad is Romania being maligned even by those who now lead it?
Another form of theft is the permanent inflation of organizational charts in state institutions.
Who else stole Romania? Another form of theft is every political appointment at the top of the state of people who have nothing to do with the field they ended up managing. Romania has no way to modernize with PSD ministers who tried to give public money cannons with reeds from the Delta and then justified themselves with quotes from “our president, Mr. Nicolae Ceaușescu”. An entire country saw the stupidity of the Minister of Agriculture, Florin Barbu, which remained unsanctioned.
Another form of theft is the permanent swelling of organizational charts in state institutions just to provide a tepid job to people who with their minds and hands could not make ends meet in life. Romania now has 1.3 million state employees, it is at the top from this point of view. In 20 years, state salaries have increased 10 times, but not the quality of public services. Why? Maybe also because some of the state employees are working tirelessly to get behind those appointed from the pen of a political decision-maker. Higher taxes, another form of theft from Romanians’ pockets
The Ciolacu government has just announced that it is amending the Fiscal Code again, but not to relax taxation. The official explanation for the new changes? There is no database in place and I can’t apply what they announced. Even the party that borrowed about 300 million euros from the World Bank to digitize ANAF a decade ago says so. But he did nothing. Isn’t that also a form of theft?
Marcel Ciolacu, now prime minister, is a man who only remembered at the age of 34 that he needed to go to school. Can anyone imagine having the ability to rule a country? Does not have! It destroyed Romania’s economy, let’s not be surprised that now they don’t have the money to pay for all the verbally promised increases.
PSD and PNL will borrow even more to pay for the promised increases, they will raise taxes, although they avoid saying this now, in the election campaign, which will lead the economy – already fragile and vulnerable to inflation – into recession. At the beginning of the year, every Romanian had to pay 8,815 euros for the debts made recklessly and carelessly by Ciolacu and Ciucă, to support a cumbersome state apparatus and to pay special pensions for the proteges of the single party. We have the highest price increases in all of Europe, Romania has reached the 1st place in inflation, and people live harder and harder. Even products with a price ceiling have become more expensive in the last year. It’s the numbers that show the reality. This is also a form of theft of hope.
Solutions exist
So, who stole Romania? Those who for 34 years led it and did nothing of what was necessary for each of us to carry it better and better. Every politician who made promises they didn’t even try to keep. Of course, if you’ve been in front of the TV in the last year, you’ve heard that the USR is to blame – a propaganda message, totally false. In 34 years, USR participated in government for only 8 months. No prime minister, no majority in Parliament. And with all that he managed to make the only modernization program of the country in the last 34 years: PNRR.
So it is possible! The solutions are within politics, not outside it, but not without the involvement of each one of us. It can be done differently, it can also be done correctly, but with people who went to school on time and didn’t go through it for nothing, with people who see politics as a career and a mission, not an endless source of combinations with the money of those who work to carry the state behind!
