The first turbine will arrive at the plant by the end of May.

“The new plant will produce electricity in more environmentally friendly conditions, thanks to very low emissions of PM 10 and PM 2.5 dust, with minimal impact on the environment. What’s more, the sulfur oxides that were in the past among the plant’s emissions no longer exist in the new project, according to the documents that formed the basis of the agreement.

According to the colleagues from APM Hunedoara, who managed all this approach from the point of view of environmental protection, the first turbine will arrive at the plant by the end of May”, announced the president of the National Agency for Environmental Protection, Laurentiu Alexandru Păştinaru.

According to the executive director of APM Hunedoara, Georgeta Barabaş, due to the production capacity of 1,700 MW, it is classified as the largest industrial objective in Romania, since the Revolution, until now.

“Hopefully it will do the area a lot of good, primarily because it’s changing the fuel. It will no longer burn coal, but methane gas, and the impact on climate change will also exist in this case, because methane gas is all carbon, but the other pollutants that caused problems will be eliminated: dust and sulfur oxides.

From the point of view of the authorization work, in addition to the application of the environmental impact assessment legislation, on biodiversity or the health of the population, we also had to consult with Hungary and Serbia, both expressing their support for the project”, said the representative APM Hunedoara, at the ceremony of handing over the Environmental Agreement to Mass Global Energy, the company that currently owns the Mintia Thermal Power Plant, which was also attended by the county prefect, Doris Visirin.
