Another case of DNA Galati has ended in the first instance, after the judges found that too much time had passed to punish the defendant. It is about a case of corruption that targeted the former financial-accounting director of the Emergency Hospital, sent to court two years ago because she allegedly facilitated the passing of an exam for a cook position.

A lot of noise for nothing, that’s how the investigation that was born around the largest medical unit of the county, not once targeted by suspicions and accusations of corruption, especially in terms of staffing, could be characterized. Alina Grosu, former financial-accounting director of the Galați Emergency Hospital, was officially charged and sent to trial, in the summer of 2022, for acts assimilated to corruption. As the DNA prosecutors claimed at the end of the investigation, “during June 2018, the defendant Grosu Alina, as the financial and accounting director of the Emergency County Clinical Hospital “St. Apostol Andrei” Galati and a member of the committee for examining candidates the competition for a vacant TESA staff position in the hospital, would have provided a candidate with the subjects of the written test and the subject of the interview test, provided that the said information was not intended for publicity took the two tests and would thus have succeeded in occupying that position, being the only one who passed both the written test and the interview test”.

As I have shown, from the date of the alleged facts to the registration of the case before the Court, four years had already passed, to which another almost two years of trial had been added. The other day, the court would find that the former director can no longer be held liable for divulging information not intended for publicity, because the statute of limitations has expired. Thus, the only measure taken by the court was the cancellation of the examination slips regarding the candidate Ivan Nela, the one favored by providing the information with which she passed the competition. The decision is not final, it can be appealed to the Court.

If the statute of limitations for criminal liability had not intervened and she had been found guilty, Alina Grosu could have received a prison sentence between 1 and 5 years.
