And the “IUS Park” appeared in the strategy, but with an estimated value of 7.5 million euros, not 50 million euros, as it now appears in the feasibility study
The local Brasov councilors were not convinced in the April 25th plenary session by the draft decision initiated by the mayor of Brasov, Allen Coliban, by which the “Green Infrastructure Strategy of the Brasov Municipality 2024-2043” was to be approved. The decision was rejected by the elected with 11 votes “for” and 14 abstentions, without any comments from the local elected officials.
According to the representatives of the municipality, the document established the measures for the next 20 years. Also, based on this strategy, a “Guide on the sustainable management of private yards and gardens” was to be developed.
Also, through the mentioned strategy, it would have been necessary to set up green roofs for all public, semi-public constructions or that include common spaces (eg: commercial spaces, office buildings, hotels, medical-sanitary units, etc.). Also, the strategy proposed setting up some community gardens (around the blocks), as well as planting trees in the parking lots.
This strategy also proposed the creation of a green belt of protective curtains in the northern area of the city, with a length of 120 km in total, which includes the national roads, the bypass belt, but also along the agricultural roads and the canals irrigation that transits agricultural areas.
Last but not least, the “IUS Park” was also included in the strategy, but the value of the investment was estimated at approximately 7.5 million euros, not at approximately 50 million euros, as it resulted from the feasibility study rejected by the elected in the same plenary session.
