“When the first intervention crews arrived, the roof was burning on an area of approximately 650 square meters,” adds ISU Bucharest Ilfov.

The fire involved a disused hall on Spicului Street, in the Constanţa Bridge area – Sector 1.

According to readers spotmedia.rothe fire would be at a timber warehouse.

Dangerous smoke

The wind blows strongly in Bucharest, and the smoke is carried far in many areas of the capital.

People living in the area are advised to keep their windows closed. They even received a Ro-Alert message warning them to avoid the area.

The black smoke was also seen from the Giulesti stadium, where the Rapid-Universitatea Craiova match was taking place.

NO ABBREVIATIONS. We get farNO ABBREVIATIONS. We get far

The head of ANM, Elena Mateescu, told Antena3 that the cloud of smoke is going to the southwest. The wind is now blowing at 40 km/h, but it is decreasing, and the sky will be partly cloudy. It is even possible that it will rain in the next few hours, so the smoke can disperse.

Firefighters don’t have enough water

It is very difficult for the firefighters to intervene, because of the narrow streets where access is difficult, and the hydrants do not have pressure in the pipes.

The fire trucks are forced to leave the device, supply water and return, confirmed Daniel Vasile, spokesperson of ISU Bucharest Ilfov, in an intervention on Antena3.

Two fires in one day, the mayor now wants controls

Just a few hours earlier, another fire broke out also in the north of the Capital, at a building under construction. Details HERE

Clotilde Armand, the mayor of Sector 1, announced controls in the area:

“The water and foam extinguishing trucks had a harder time entering the narrow streets because they are areas where construction was chaotic, with the consent of the former administrations that gave construction permits based on money and party interests.

We asked the Urban Planning Department to check the two fires that took place today in Sector 1, who are the owners of the affected buildings and what notices have been issued in these areas”.

In addition, those who live near the hall engulfed in flames and need support or accommodation can call the Emergency Service within the DGASPC.

“We have several crews of the Local Police in the area of the fire in the north of the Capital, we support the teams of firefighters and the Road Brigade. People living in the vicinity of the affected area who need support or accommodation can call the Emergency Service within DGASPC Sector 1: 0734.454.543”, announces Clotilde Armand, on Facebook.
