On the night of April 27 to 28, police officers of the Road Safety Service and road formations carried out an action to prevent road accidents, by detecting and penalizing drivers who drive under the influence of alcohol or prohibited substances or who do not respect the legal speed limit.

Approximately 50 policemen participated in this action, which took place on the main traffic arteries in Constanța county, where speed measuring devices were placed.

During the activities carried out, 672 people were identified through the eDAC application and 649 vehicles were checked. 395 drivers were tested with the breathalyzer device and 98 with the device provided, in order to establish indications regarding the possible presence of psychoactive substances.

Following the detected irregularities, 169 contraventional sanctions were applied, in a total amount of approximately 79,000 lei. Also, 14 driver’s licenses were detained with a view to suspension, 12 registration certificates and six sets of plates with registration numbers were withdrawn, and four road traffic offenses were found.

Examples:

On April 28, around 01:15, police officers from the Road Safety Service identified a 23-year-old man who was driving a car on Tineretului street in the Costinesti resort, being under the influence of alcoholic beverages.

The man was tested with the breathalyzer, the result being 0.79 mg/l of pure alcohol in the exhaled air. Later, he was taken to a medical unit, for the collection of biological samples, in order to establish the blood alcohol level.

On April 28, around 4:15 a.m., police officers from the Road Safety Service identified a 34-year-old man who was driving a car on Mircea cel Bătrân Street in Constanța.

After testing with the device provided, indications emerged regarding the possible presence of psychoactive substances.

We note that this is not evidence in the criminal case, the person being taken to a medical facility, for the collection of biological samples, in order to accurately establish the consumption of prohibited substances. In both cases, a criminal investigation file was drawn up.
